The Harmony is a breakthrough in manual breastpump technology. It is the first and only manual pump with 2-Phase Expression® technology– a dual pumping pattern that comes closer than ever to the way a baby naturally breastfeeds.
 
The first phase, called the stimulation phase, mimics a baby’s initial rapid, shallow sucking that encourages fast let-down. The second phase, the expression phase, simulates a baby’s more relaxed, deeper sucking that promotes efficient milk removal.

How do babies nurse?
Studies have shown that babies nurse in two phases: Initially, they suckle fast and light to stimulate the milk ejection reflex and to start the milk flowing. Then, they switch to a slower and deeper suck to get as much milk as quickly as possible.

Recommended Use
The Harmony Breastpump is recommended for mothers who only express milk occassionally. That is, you are available to nurse your baby for most feedings each day, except for a few occasions during the week. It is also ideal to collect breastmilk for feeding that is missed due to an evening out or to relieve occassional breast engorgement or sore nipples.
